A Taste of El Salvador: Pupusas & Elote Loco Cooking Class

Take to the streets of San Salvador, for an evening of making traditional Pupusas from scratch with Chef Iris Jimenez from La Casita Pupuseria! Pupusas are one of the most iconic dishes of El Salvador. They are thick flatbreads made from masa (corn) flour and stuffed or topped with delicious savory fillings. They are even better when served along with Elote Loco, El Salvador’s own fantastic version of Corn on the Cob.

In this fun and interactive class, you will be guided step-by-step in preparing your very own Pupusas with authentic toppings: Curtido & Salsa Roja. Chef Iris will demonstrate how to make corn masa dough so that guests can make their own. She will demonstrate two different fillings, Chicharrón (featuring pork shoulder) and a vegetarian version with refried bean and mozzarella cheese. Each guest will be provided with Elote Loco on a stick and given toppings to flavor the corn out as it’s done in El Salvador.

Learn about traditional ingredients and test out your knife skills while you dice ingredients for your fillings and toppings. The best part of the class will be sitting down to enjoy your delicious meal that was entirely made from scratch! We can’t wait to welcome you at the Galería at La Cosecha for an unforgettable night of Latin American cooking.

Classes are hosted by CocuSocial and all ingredients and materials are provided.
