EL SALVADOR AT LA COSECHA: Presented by the Embassy of El Salvador and La Casita Pupusería – Saturday, April 29th 10am-8pm

Embassy of El Salvador & La Casita Pupuseria are thrilled to announce “El Salvador at La Cosecha, a Salvadoran Culture Celebration, hosted at La Cosecha in Washington, D.C. Among other attractions, guests will have the chance to enjoy a photographic exhibition “El Salvador, Light Window and Positive Country”, Live exposition by multimedia artist Josue Martinez of Corinto Gallery, Virtual Reality Tour of El Salvador Touristic, and much more! We hope to be able to enjoy the company of you, your friends, and your family on this most special day!

SPECIAL EVENTS

– 10:00 AM | Opening of the Celebration with tour by Photographic exhibition “El Salvador, Ventana de Luz/ El Salvador Windows of Light” and “El Salvador Positivo/ The Positive El Salvador”.

The exhibition aims to showcase El Salvador’s rebirth, that stems from opportunities generated for the development of its people, as well as promote the cultural richness and diversity of tourist sites.

– 10:00 AM- 2:00 PM | Salvadoran Coffee tasting by CAFÉ DE EL SALVADOR.
Also, you can enjoy two Salvadoran favorite sweet breads “Quesadilla” and “Semita”.

– 11:45 AM– 12:30 PM | Live Pupusa Demonstration by Chef Iris Veronica Jimenez, La Casita Pupuseria with “How to Make Pupusas” and tasting of Pupusas. The Pupusa is the most traditional and popular dish of Salvadorans

– 2:45 – 3:30 PM | Live Prepared Show by Rico’s Ice Cream with how to do “Sorbete de Carretón”.Carreton Sorbet is a traditional ice cream and is served in waffle cones and tropical fruits jelly and one of the most favorite desserts of Salvadoran families.

– 4:30 – 5:30 PM | Screening of the documentary film (third chapter) “Las Pupusas”, by Olen Gutiérrez, Executive Director .A documentary film on Gastronomy and Culture. This film tells the story of the most popular Salvadoran dish, “Las pupusas”. The story is told through stories of life struggle and resiliency, science, traditions, fashion, love, and Mayan civilization. Above all, it is a celebration of a culture that has been enjoyed from generation to generation through foods.
