The Embassy of Peru is thrilled to announce “This is Peru”, a Peruvian Heritage Month Celebration, hosted at La Cosecha in Washington, D.C. Among other attractions, guests will have the chance to enjoy an exhibition of the elusive traditional Peruvian pottery “Pucará Bulls”, a Peruvian cuisine workshop by Peruvian Brothers, a one-of-a-kind sound-art exhibition by Aureliano Lecca, a live exposition by graffiti artist Roberto Seminario ‘SEF’, and much more!  We hope to be able to enjoy the company of you, your friends, and your family on this most special day!

– Visit vendors selling alpaca/cotton garments, jewels, and handicrafts. Qoya Jewels, Toro Mata, and Peru Gift Shop will be with us. Also, you will have the opportunity to taste Peruvian gelatos, with Firenzes.

– Performance of the outstanding Peruvian graffiti artist Roberto Seminario (SEF). He will paint a mural on Peruvian motive, over a portable wood wall. Location: (Closed) Street next to La Cosecha. SEF showcased his work in 2021 at the Embassy of Peru’s virtual Art Gallery:

12:00 PM | Opening of the exhibition “Itinerant Pucará Bull, Ambassador of the Peruvian Highlands.
Location: Balcon (Art Gallery), La Cosecha
The exhibition will feature traditional Peruvian pottery, which originates from Puno in the south of the country. The Torito de Pucará is the symbol of protection and prosperity for this geographical region, which hangs in pairs above houses’ entrances. Due to this, the town of Pucará is also called “Tierra del Torito”.

3:30PM I Presentation of Roberto Seminario (SEF), Peruvian graffiti artist.
Location: Neal Place at La Cosecha
SEF presents us a series of murals made in Peru, the United States, Germany, Italy, and the Dominican Republic, among other countries; where each of the heroes and characters of Peruvian culture are portrayed as children, rescuing innocence and, above all giving a modern character to this proposal. 

4:00 PM | Peruvian experimental music and sound art exhibition 2022, directed by outstanding Peruvian artist Aureliano Lecca
Location: La Plaza, La Cosecha
Aureliano Lecca is a Peruvian sound artist, sound designer and musician who has presented his work in the United States, Austria, Spain, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and Peru where he carries out projects of live sound art, sound sculpture, installation and sound design for cinema, art places and museums. The presentation will provide a sensory experience that will bring us closer to the sounds of the nature of Peru, as a way to approach its biodiversity and unique geography all over the world. 

5:00 PM | Screening of the documentary film “Misky Yacu, Agua dulce de los Andes”, by Roberto Aldave
Location: Balcon, La Cosecha
A documentary film on climate change. Also, a Tribute to the ancient Peruvians who, with their intelligence and tenacity, created admirable irrigation systems, agricultural techniques and climate prevention methods that made possible the flourishing of our great Andean culture.

6:00 PM – 8:00 PM I Hang with Andean-native alpacas
Location: Neal Place at La Cosecha

7:00 PM | El Sabor with Izis la Enfermera
Location: Outside La Cosecha
Dance the night away with an evening of Latin rhythms featuring recording artist, Izis la Enfermera, bringing her top original songs and hit covers of the songs you love. A night full of Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, and more – kindly sponsored by Topo Chico.
